Erotic Authors – What Makes Them Tick? An Interview with Amelia June

Dear reader,

As a consumer of erotica, have you ever wondered how the writers of those titillating stories, which make us wet or hard, come up with their wild scenarios. Have they performed what they write about? Do they have fantasies? Have they indulged themselves or are they all talk and no show? (like me.)

I don’t care what they eat. I want to know who they ate or would like to eat! What motivates them? What gets them going?

Shall we find out. This week’s person of interest is brilliant newcomer author Amelia June.

Welcome Amelia, seeing how we are trying to get a feel for the sensuous writer, my questions may be a little pointed, so if you have a problem with a question, just go to the next one.

• First question: How did you start writing erotica?
I’ve written erotica since I was old enough to know what erotica was–for me that was high school. I think I started as an outlet for all those pent up hormones, LOL. But while I write in all genres, I found through the years I really like to write sex. I guess you could say it comes naturally 😉

How long have you been writing erotica and would you prefer to write anything else?
I do write other things–the trick is to let the story do the work. Many of my stories are erotic in nature, but not all of them. If I try to force sex where it doesn’t belong, the words sound stilted and unnatural. But I do feel I’ve found a voice in erotica, so I have no plans to stop writing in the genre.

Do you feel you offer anything special to your readers?
Well of course! Although admittedly not always what I intended, I’ve had many readers tell me that my stories are “intellectual” or that they “made them think”. I find that to be a real compliment–porn with a brain! I want my readers to be excited and intrigued, as well as entertained. If I can get a reader’s mind working along with their lower bits, I’m a happy writer.

What are your writing goals?
I try to write stories that are really engaging, characters that you want to know more about, and get the reader hot and bothered. As for my personal goals, I’m aiming to build up my backlist and have some books available at a few different publishers. I also have a goal to write every day. Working on it!

As an erotic writer, you are assumed to be a sexual person. Do you have any sexual hang-ups?
Teehee, don’t you just love assumptions? I don’t have any sexual hang-ups, myself, but I also don’t spend all day in bed with three hot guys and a cucumber. At least, the cucumber stays in the fridge… Anyway, just as there are no fantasy writers hanging out with elves, we do call it “imagination” for a reason!

As an erotic writer and a sexual person, do you have any sexual fantasies?
Of course! How could I write erotica without them?

Have you acted out your fantasy? If you haven’t would you consider living out your fantasy?

From where do you get your main characters?
From the muse, I suppose. My main characters are a variety of types, but usually they are strong if they are women, or discovering their strength. My women aren’t the fainting kind. I suppose I get that from the women in my life, who are all tough broads, including all my grandmothers and great aunts and everyone. Kick ass women run in my family.

What is your preferred style, when writing erotica, ie. m/f f/f, m/m, mfm, bdsm, etc?
I have written m/f, m/m/f and BDSM, and I hope to write in all sorts of combinations in the future. Really the story drives the “combos”, not the other way around.

What do you personally look for in a sexual partner?
Sweetness and focus, and a little bit of being able to take direction 😉

Doing what to your sexual partner, gets you excited?
Well lets just say it involves squealing. And leave it there 😉

Which celebrities or other well known individuals, if any, do you drool over?
Oh Johnny Depp, oh Johnny Depp, why do you have to be married, living in France and 15 years my senior (as IF that would stop me)??

Do you sometimes get turned on by your own erotic writing?
Sometimes, although when you’re focused on craft it is a bit less exciting. When I have to take a cold shower after one of my scenes, I figure it is a keeper.

If so, do you do anything about it?
See above…

Have you ever participated in any of the wild scenarios of which you have written?

In your estimation, what is the sexiest book/story you have written? And do you have a sexy passage that you would share with us.
Boy that is a tough one. I suppose I find my threesomes very sexy, so I’ll share a bit of Triple X, my title available with eXtasy Books right now. Here’s a non-threesome bit which is still very hot, I think.

Jordan reached over and pushed a strand of hair back from her face and tucked it behind her ear. He cupped her face in both of his strong hands and lifted it to his, kissing her deeply. His joy gave over to passion and they kissed with a ferocious intensity. Jordan’s arms moved around her and removed her shirt and bra with ease. Her nipples hardened with cold and anticipation, and he delivered, lowering his face into her cleavage. He moved over one breast, than the other, kissing and gently nipping the tender flesh until she was trembling
“Abby, I want you, I want to be inside you but I want you wet first. Show me what you want, girl.” Abby shuddered at his words, then looked him in the eye and said, “Watch me, I’ll show you.”
Jordan moved back and Abby leaned against the headboard and spread her legs open, knees up so he could get a good view of her. She slipped her panties off so that only her skirt remained. Abby liked this feeling of taboo, almost like Jordan was spying on her. He removed his clothing quickly, without taking his eyes off her. She smiled and slid her hands over her chest, lingering over her sensitive nipples for a few moments before moving south to her waiting pussy. She enjoyed this exhibitionism, enjoyed knowing her body excited him. By the size of his erection, she had little doubt it did. He sat on his haunches at the foot of the bed and slowly stroked his cock, keeping his eyes on her.
Abby moved her hands into her already moist folds and began to lightly stroke her clit. She started out very slowly, circling her clit in soft movements that sent chills up her spine. She slid a finger inside herself for a moment, stroking her G-spot, then removed it to focus on her clit. She was wet, and used her finger to lubricate her slit thoroughly. A hint of her scent drifted on a current, sweet and fruity; a scent that only grew headier with arousal. The sight of Jordan moving his hand up and down his cock excited her further and she began to touch herself in earnest. Her middle finger made tight, light strokes over the hood of her clit and as she got closer to orgasm her pace increased. Her breath began to quicken and her breasts heaved. She hung her head back a bit, her mouth parted in pleasure. Her eyes closed to slits as she drank in the sensations she was producing in her body. Jordan watched her bring herself to the brink of orgasm, then stepped in and stopped her. Abby opened her eyes with a start, and fought to catch her breath.
“That,” said Jordan, “was amazing. But it’s my turn now.”

What is your current release? Please post a blurb or tell us about it.

My most current release is The Jason Factor, a Fantasy Games story with eXtasy Books. It has a sequel, a longer tale called The Bell Curve coming soon from eXtasy as well. It is a short but naughty tale of writer’s block, a ouija board, and a very, very bad main character.

Thank you for being this week’s guest and sharing with your fans. I hope you have found our questions stimulating.

Thanks Dee!
